Job Title: Accountant
Location: Lekki, Lagos (Onsite)
Salary: ₦200,000 Monthly
Job Summary:
The Accountant will be responsible for managing the company’s financial operations, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This role will require the candidate to maintain accurate financial records, prepare financial statements, and manage payroll. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in accounting within a trading environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
Bookkeeping: Maintain and update financial records, including transaction ledgers, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Payroll Management: Oversee payroll processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments to employees.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing financial insights and recommendations for improvement.
Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax regulations, preparing and filing tax returns as required.
Reconciliation: Perform regular bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
Audit Preparation: Prepare documents and reports for internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
Expense Tracking: Monitor and track company expenses, ensuring adherence to budget and financial policies.
Inventory Management: Coordinate with the inventory and store officer to ensure accurate financial records related to stock and inventory levels.
Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
Requirements:
Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of accounting experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; ICAN/ACCA certification is a plus.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing financial records and transactions.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify issues, and provide actionable insights.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify financial discrepancies and develop solutions.
Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with Nigerian tax laws and financial regulations.
